Today, 23 June 2020, the Government announced that pubs & restaurants can re-open on July 4th, as long as certain guidelines were followed. Some of these were simply guidance, and some should be seen as new rules of operation.
One of the main operating constraints proposed during the press release was the mandatory requirement to facilitate the NHS’s Test & Trace service by capturing the data of people in your pubs & restaurants.
In simple terms, this means that venue owners now have an obligation make sure there are systems in place to acquire customers contact details should they need to be notified of being in contact with someone in your venue who has COVID-19, and we know, that’s a big ask…
Well, you could walk around your pub or restaurant with a clipboard, taking everyone’s details down with a pen and paper, constantly explaining why you need this information, then store the details following the proper GDPR rules (Locked cabinet, ect.). But if that sounds like something you don’t really have the time or resource to do, then we’ve got an easier way…
As part of our service, we’re prepared to work with the NHS Test & Trace team to enable notifications to be sent to people potentially at risk of exposure to COVID-19, whilst maintaining total anonymity and not sharing your customers details.
We do the legwork to make sure your customers privacy is totally protected, but they are able to be notified if required without handling the personal data directly.
When your customers sign up for a trof account, they submit their basic contact details as part of the sign up, as you do to most things you sign up for. Rest assured, those details are kept private and secure, and do not enter the hands of any third party. Trof will handle the push notifications if required, to keep your customers anonymous and safe.
We're offering this as part of our service, so no extra sign up or costs at all. Simply using trof means you don't have to worry, we'll take care of everything.
