Setting Up Categories

Your menu is organised into categories, this lesson will show you how to set them up and make the most of them.

In this lesson you will learn:

  1. Where to find the 'Menu Management' settings
  2. How to set categories
  3. How to set Category Add-Ons and what this means

Let's get started

We’ve tried to make setting up your menu as simple as possible, it makes things easier for you, and most importantly, it helps your customers find their favourite items quickly and easily.

To create a new category on your menu, open up your vendor app and tap on ‘Menu’ at the bottom of the screen. Tap the blue ‘New Category’ tab at the bottom of the Manage Menu page. Now you just need to fill in the information on the page.  Category Name is what your customer will see on your menu, for example, ‘Sandwiches’.

It is important that you choose the correct option in the ‘Food or Drink’ tab, of you turn off food orders after a certain time, food categories will not be shown to the customer so consider carefully when you set this up

The ‘Show in Menu’ tab is self-explanatory, this will either hide or show this category to your customer. This can be useful for example, if you have a Sunday lunch menu which is only available on Sundays, you can switch it on and off depending on when you want your customers to see the category.

Setting Category Add-Ons

Here’s the clever bit, you can add Category Add-Ons to each category. In a nutshell, it means you can add extras to each item in the category. For example, if the category is ‘Burgers’ you can choose to add ‘Skinny Fries’ or ‘Sweet Potato Fries’ to every burger in the category. The customer will be prompted to add these items when they select an item. You can set a charge or not, that’s up to you.

Category Add-Ons can help increase your ATV. Why not offer crisps or bar snacks as an add-on to your Drinks category? Tempting…

Once you’ve finished setting up your category, remember to tap ‘Save Category’ at the bottom of the screen. You’re now all set to add individual items to your category.

We hope this lesson was helpful!
